Astrology Student Conference 2008 Review
21-22 June 2008
Conference 2008The first joint London School of Astrology & Mayo School Student Conference was held from Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 June 2008 at the Resource Centre, 356 Holloway Road, London, UK. It was chaired by Frank Clifford, Principle of the LSA, and Wendy Stacey, Principle of the Mayo School. The two days were a feast of top quality astrology talks aimed at students at every level of astrological awareness. Delegates included students from numerous astrology schools, as well as astrologers from a variety of backgrounds, and came from 12 different countries to attend.

Speakers and subjects included Dr Nick Campion on ‘Great Astrologers: Leo and Rudhyar’, Frank Clifford on ‘Astrology in Action: Life Stories in the Horoscope’, Darby Costello on ‘In Conversation with Mercury’, Dr Liz Greene with a double-session on ‘The Sun and Saturn: The Spinal Column of the Chart’, Melanie Reinhart on ‘The Four Angles’, Wendy Stacey on ‘Focal Planets’, Sue Tompkins on ‘The Uses and Abuses of Significators’, and Shelley von Strunckel on ‘Defending Astrology from the Media’. Each talk was presented from the unique perspective of the speaker and together the speakers covered a wide range of different approaches to the subject, which received excellent feedback from those who attended. The panel discussion at the end, as well as the opportunities for discussion throughout the conference, provided an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions and share ideas with their tutors and others with a wide range of experience in the field.

Conference 2008Feedback from those who attended included: ‘I thoroughly enjoyed the conference and thought that the speakers were all outstanding. It would be great to do this kind of thing more often. Its a great place to network and to meet with likeminded people’; ‘Well done for providing us with the opportunity to enjoy all these speakers in one place and at a reasonable cost’; ‘Excellent speakers, valuable knowledge, friendly atmosphere, very enjoyable experience, thanks’; ‘I really loved it, such good feeling - not only with the audience but among the lecturers too.’ This friendly atmosphere was commented on by many present and helped to make the weekend a memorable one.

The organisers and delegates are grateful to the Astrology Shop for providing a bookshop which proved an invaluable resource over the two days.
